I have joined a writing group for the month of August, mainly to help me focus on a couple of outstanding projects one of which is to write a step by step article for prong settings in metal clay. Joining the writing group was inspired by reading the blog of Marianne Cantwell writing about making your life the one you really want. I kind of have that life aspect already sorted but decided I needed to be a bit more ambitious about enjoying it.
So now I have a whole new load of aims alongside my ‘taking my coffee break out somewhere’ so that I can enjoy this beautiful landscape. As the result of physiotherapy sessions and slowly improving health I have this week acquired a bicycle and am attempting to learn to ride it. This is a bit of a dramatic turnaround for me – my friends know I have always been dismissive of the idea of cycling although my partner does a lot (far too energetic)! The landscape here is very hilly and I seem to be either peddling like mad or am shrieking with the brakes on trying to control the freewheel, a bit like life generally I guess.
I have also got back to writing my outstanding ‘step by step’ project and documenting it carefully so that I will have all the right photos to illustrate the process. I think I got the focus in slightly the wrong place here (nice close up of my finger prints)
I am sticking one of the ‘prongs’ into silver clay to make a setting for a little piece of beach glass. The really tricky bit is trying to work out how to take the photos – whether to hold the camera in my right hand and work left handed or have the camera upside down in my left hand and work right handed. I suppose I could try and find my tripod and set the whole thing up properly in my studio but it somehow doesn’t seem to have the same fluidity then.
I will be attempting to blog on a daily basis through the rest of August so hope I can find something interesting to say each day.
Thanks for joining me in this little adventure
